Xylin (材林) is a space for collecting, researching and developing materials available in satoyama areas of Japan. Our approach is not to competitively search for materials in order to create something specific, but rather to seek to express the characteristics of the materials in some form by researching the context in which they have been used in traditional life. We also treat things that are not considered to be material in the present day.

Materials are collected mainly in Sagatani and Takeo in Wakayama Prefecture. The space is run by hazama design.
