mingu

In Japanese mingu refers to objects, tools, or furniture traditionally used for everyday lives by common people. We rescue mingu from being thrown away from old housed in satoyama. Mingus are already finished products, but they can also be materials if they should to be repaired or reformed.

Wooden houses have been lived in for a long time with many repairs being made. Many houses have old fittings in storage, whether they were removed from the houses or acquired from somewhere else for future repairs. Now that more standardized materials are readily available and construction methods prioritize efficiency, the use of old fittings seems to be decreasing. Holes and notches, which are usually not visible, allow us to imagine the story behind the wood.
